Arts Alive fundraising house parties will be held throughout the Sullivan County and Upper Delaware River region on Saturday, April 21, 2012 to benefit Delaware Valley Arts Alliance. We hope you will consider hosting one of your own and help keep the Arts Alive in our community.

Conceived as a fundraiser that anyone and everyone could participate in, Arts Alive parties can be small or grand. The point is getting friends together to support DVAA’s programs and services.

You can serve beans and beer, caviar and champagne, or anything in between. You can set a suggested donation or ask guests to give what they can. Your party can be held at your home, place of business or a public space. You know yourselves and your friends best. Do what you feel most comfortable doing.

We’ll provide you with some materials about DVAA, invitations and Arts Alive buttons.

Delaware Valley Arts Alliance is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization. Hosts can deduct the value of party supplies and guests can deduct contributions. Checks should be made payable to Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.

Thanks in advance for your enthusiasm and creativity. Let us know how we can help you.

For more details and to get started, call DVAA's Executive Director Elaine Giguere at 845-252-7576.

On October 9, 2011, DVAA presented awards to honorees in four categories:

Business Partner to Callicoon Theater (Jim and Barbara Kayton proprietors) for the CineArt Film Series

Lifetime Achievement to Sheldon Soffer for his work as an artists’ manager and the scholarship he established in memory of Stanley Segal

Artistic Contribution (organization) to Forestburgh Playhouse for revitalizing the Playhouse and expanding the educational division to present classic and new plays to high school students

Artistic Contribution (individual) to Phyllis Bilick for her art-making and two decades of helping to shape DVAA’s Gallery Program.

Delaware Valley Arts Alliance grew out of a Bicentennial cultural committee led by Tom DeGaetani who had been the first managing director of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

“When the Bicentennial events were over,” says Giguere, DeGaetani’s widow, “everyone wanted the cultural committee to keep going. We held a public meeting at which representatives from the New York State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts were in attendance and over 100 people turned out. The DVAA was formed that evening in 1976.”

“There are so many people who have helped to shape the DVAA,” says Giguere, “nearly 500 solo artists and over 1,000 musicians, poets, painters, and filmmakers working in groups have been presented in the galleries and at the Tusten Theatre. Grants that we administer have served an even wider constituency, impacting thousands of audience members throughout the region. And for all who have been in the spotlight, there have been dozens serving on the board, on committees, or in the wings to make it all happen.”
